Press Release

Planet of Sound releases the recordings that they never finished….

After working hard on recordings for more than a year the band came to the conclusion that they couldn’t finish an official album. Both because the band got a new drummer which made the sound different and because it would cost to much. Without a record label it would simply be too expensive to finish it….

Nevertheless the band agreed on giving the 12 songs away for free through this webpage in the state they were when Planet of Sound stopped working on it.

Now everyone can listen to the 12 songs and get to know the band even better.

The quartet aims to write honest and direct songs. Their style is inspired by American indie-rock enriched by the outstanding vocal harmonies of the 60″s and 70″s. Planet of Sound mixes rough, yet melodic rock with a powerful base and bright vocals. They arrive at a unique sound image that holds catchy and well- disposed rock songs.

Their live performance is gripping, dynamic and energetic & the band exudes ample musical integrity thanks to several years of rehearsal and experience.

Sweet Silence

In April 2004, the band recorded three songs in Sweet Silence Studios in Copenhagen with legendary producer Flemming Rasmussen behind the mixer. The session yielded the EP “Shoegazer”, which, apart from the title track, contains “New Faces” and “Eat This”.

Printed in 500 copies, the EP was distributed to radio stations, venues and labels in Denmark, Britain and the US, yet without the desired feedback.

# 1 chart position

Aiming to get feedback on the EP, Planet of Sound uploaded the songs on internet-forums in order to expose the music among other music lovers. One of the sites was American “garageband.com” where amateur bands upload their music to get honest and constructive criticism.

The songs “Shoegazer” and “New Faces” were uploaded, and this resulted in a virtual blizzard of praiseful comments, ultimately rating “Shoegazer” as number one on garageband.com”s all-time chart in the category “best melody”! Obviously, the band is proud of this position, seeing that the site contains more than 1.000.000 tracks.

Planet of Sound (formed in 2001) is Jesper Møgelhøj (vocals & guitars), Hans Graudal (guitars & backing vox), Tue Jørgensen (bass & backing vox) samt Rasmus Thomsen (drums & backing vox).

Comments from garageband.com:

”Exellent Power Pop Wonderful Wilsonesque falsetto vocals. I like the vocals a lot. The singing is god and it sounds natual and isn’t over the top. The harmonies are good, and the whole thing is mixed well.”

”Great Songwriting You guys have some good stuff here. The chorus is so catchy its insane. Kinda makes me want to sing along. The melody is very Weezer-like and the instrumentatin is like much of the modern emo-stuff the kids like these days. I”m saving this tune.”

”Look out Pixies The music reminds me of pixies/oad the wet sprocket, the vocal reminds me of jimmy eat world. Good Guitar lines in there, very playful and lively, nice build ups. The melody is catchy, especially at the 2:oo min mark. This song was meant to be on the OC fo’ sho’!!!”

Pop Vocals Are a Wall of Sound! I love the synth keyboard! Puts me in the mind of a Weezer melody…and I LOVE WEEZER! :)

I like the vocals a lot - they have an original sound - like a wall of pop.

The sound on this song is quite good. It’s an enjoyable listening experience to be sure.
